Our History

Warwickshire Schools Badminton Association was established in the 1990's with the objectives of working closely with schools, badminton clubs and other player activity groups within the county of Warwickshire to encourage and assist development of junior badminton within the County of Warwickshire whether in a school, club, sports facility or other context.  It was also considered important to provide opportunity for competitive play in all junior age groups within or outside the County of Warwickshire by tournament, inter-region, inter-county, or international, events.  

The organisation has flourished since then, growing to its current membership of around 40 players, training in Coventry.  We are fortunate to have seen, and benefitted from, association with a number of Warwickshire junior players who have gone on to become national and international players, forging successful careers in badminton.  More recently and currently we have junior players on the Badminton England junior programme, attending England training sessions and being selected to represent England in international tournaments.
